cranwell is located north of Grantham just off the A17. Cranwell is very well known for RAF Cranwell which is just over a mile to the west of the village. RAF College Cranwell has 2 airfields the older one being used for gliders and light aircraft from 1916 and the other which was paved in 1954 to make way for the Meteor and Vampire jets.
