swinstead is a small village located about 13 miles south of Grantham, nearby villages include Swayfield, Grimsthorpe and Corby Glen. An old stone market cross on high steps stands in the middle of the village and although the date is unknown, it bears a resemblance to one that can be found in the market place at nearby Corby Glen that was erected in the reign of Edward III (1312-1377), although Swinstead's is less elaborate.
